Every so often I will be doing a post like this.
Where I will join in where I can and do some fundraising for a #MentalHealth related charity.
The Who
This time around I am setting myself a challenge whilst trying to fundraise for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) who as a well established charity already do amazing work. Please have a read of what they are doing.
The Why
It’s 2026, and sadly, statistics still show upward trends of people struggling to a point where they may either
- Feel overwhelmed and contemplate on taking their own lives
- Thankfully be unsuccessful in trying to take their own lives
- Sadly, take their own lives.
Having been through periods where those points have either been something that I’ve gone through, or someone I know, has been through them, I know the importance that sometimes having someone to talk to can make.
The Challenge
CALM are running a Game for 60 hours in November as part of one of many of their different fundraisers.
This one sits nicely for me (as well I don’t need to leave the house) and will tie in with me actually playing some games that have been on my list & that I haven’t yet played or that I want to replay after years of not playing them.
To add to this, to make the challenge more fun, I am setting myself the following challenges throughout November.
- Game for at least 60 hours in the month.
- Game at least 4 times a week. Mon-Thurs
- Game for at least 5 hours at a time.
- I have lots of games that I want to go back through and just hadn’t got around to playing over the years.
- Live stream my gaming sessions on Twitch - pwshdoodUK & then publish to this Youtube playlist.
- Try to split this across gaming via Laptop & Xbox.
There are a few additional side goals other than raising money for charity whilst doing this.
I have some task automation I’ve partly been putting off for a while, even though this is stuff I need in future for this site & my other stuff going forward. That is stuff I’ll eventually be talking about and publishing on my personal blog and via streams like on Twitch and Youtube. So I am looking forward to get that all done.
As part of this I will on each alternate 5 hour stream (Tues & Thursday)
- Have a complete water and food fast for the whole duration of my stream
Whilst on the Monday and Wednesday’s well, all food and drink will be on the menu, so to speak.
This is not because I absolutely need to, far from it, but is more of an experiment to aid me further understand one aspect of my health.
But not only that, it’s to help me get back into doing some other things more regularly, like setting up the stuff needed to stream and present again, as this something that, I should be doing more of, whether or not it makes me any money or not.
For this, I’ve set up this Just Giving Page where my aim is to raise just £2 per hour that I am streaming, which I think is a reasonable goal to try and achieve.
That said, I’ll be happy if it ends up just being me as the only person that donates to this because well, November is a hard time for people in the run up to the end of the year funzies.
Thanks for reading, this post brought to you off the back of another, less than fun post to write over on my personal tech blog over at https://blog.kilasuit.org & a desire to channel more of my energy into positive & useful things.
What games would you like to see me play, let me know in the comments
