An Intro to our new Blogger - David Johnson

David JohnsonResearcher with Lived Experience of Multiple Addictions

A firm believer that the only way to end stigma's around all things addiciton related, is to be open about them

Who am I?

My name is David Johnson.

I’ve lived through many different periods in my life where I’ve gone through a number of deeply addictive cycles, and not just the same ones time and time again.

Life outside the world of being a recovering poly addict, is complex, challenging &incredibly frustrating too. I hate the amount of snide comments & language that people make when talking about People Who Use Substances (PWUS) like they are lessor people not worthy of sharing this spinning rock hurtling through space.

I currently am out of work, having had different roles in many areas of society, however my focus has been around doing research into trends into all things around how Psychedlics could be used as Medicines, following great leaders in this area, and doing much needed research into understanding the illict drugs world.

I have previous experience with running Harm Reduction forums & realtime chat channels as part of a team of other like minded passionate people about all things Harm Reduction. As part of that Volunteer team I know that we saved lives, both via direct actions but also via providing non-judgemental safety advise, and running a services 24/7/365, all on a volunteer & fully unpaid basis.

It is through my own experiences & personal research, those shared with me individually and reading existing underground & overground research, that led me to attain the knowledge that I have today.

What has lead you to wanting to write here?

I am like many people out there, have knowledge and experience when it comes to different kinds of addictions, and it’s time that I shared it with the world.

Addiction, is a challenging topic to talk about, and it is something that myself & Ryan have discussed at length over the many years that I have known Ryan for.

What do you intend to write about

Me and Ryan have discussed many times of doing some joint authored posts & with his help I am learning about areas of Software Development, which wasn’t something that I really ever wanted to pursue, but after one too many evenings with him showing me how simple it can be, I have become somewhat hooked on the idea of building my own blog and maybe building a mobile app.

Content wise I plan to write about the different Addictions that I have had overcome over many years.
